AFRICAN AMERICAN GOLFER’S DIGEST
LAUNCHES “DIVERSITY PAVILION” AS IT ENTERS
3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR AT THE
2006 PGA MERCHANDISE SHOW & CONVENTION
Black Golf Magazine
Expands Business Commitment and Participation At The Nation's
Most Comprehensive Golf Show.
NEW YORK, NY (January 15, 2006)—Visitors
to the PGA
Merchandise Show & Convention next
year will have the chance to experience the event with the
African American Golfer’s Digest, a national,
quarterly publication who has signed up to exhibit again.
This year, the magazine will present its “Diversity
Pavilion” in 500 sq. ft. of exhibit space. The Pavilion
is a response to the overwhelming success of the January
2006 Show as for more space is now required by the growing
minority merchants who participate with the magazine's effort.
The Diversity Pavilion aids merchants who are either minority-owned,
minority-operated, or specialize in reaching the minority
golf marketplace with exhibiting and showcasing their products
and services at the PGA Show through a unique advertising
and marketing opportunity with the magazine.
The African American Golfer’s Digest has
been participating with the Show for the last two years,
(2004, 2005) and the 2006 marketing link-up opportunity
has been such a success until the publication, has extended
and expanded the arrangement for the 2007 PGA Show.
The Diversity Pavilion in located in the Products and Services
section of the exhibit floor, at booth # 5290. It will be
host to merchants and golf trade professionals throughout
the three-day Show. At the booth there will be writers conducting
interviews, authors doing book signings, and representatives
distributing copies of the four-year-old, glossy lifestyle
publication that features editorial, golf tips, travel guides
and profiles on the latest news, information and activities
in the “soulful” world of golf.
Each day there will be a special element to the show booth
to capture the excitement and atmosphere of the most comprehensive
golf show in the U.S. Special events planned include a special
appearance by PGA golfer Calvin Peete on
Saturday, January 27 from 12 noon-4:00 p.m. Peete will be
at the booth to sign autographs and take photos with guests.
On Monday, January 29 the African American Golfer’s
Digest will host its inaugural 18-hole golf tournament
at the WALT DISNEY WORLD® resort on
the Magnolia course with tee times beginning at 11:30 a.m.
followed by an evening awards cocktail reception and banquet
at the property.
Publisher, Debert Cook says, “I
am delighted to continue to grow the magazine by participating
in the PGA Show this upcoming year, and the response to
our presence from Show management is exciting. Our “Diversity
Pavilion” provides a tremendous amount of visibility
and exposure for minority golf merchants and black golf
professionals, who are looking to grow their golf businesses,
network and connect with each other from across the nation
and across the world. These three-days of activity will
benefit the PGA Merchandise Show, Reed Expositions (who
manages the expo) and our magazine, building upon our past
successes and becoming a part of the growth, as well.”
Merchants who participate with the “Diversity Pavilion”
receive a number of year-round marketing and advertising
benefits through the African American Golfer’s
Digest including travel and lodging discounts, sales
lead generation, and an opportunity to participate in the
onsite press conference. This year, the press conference
topic will focus on “Golf: Linking Cultures &
Dollars.” The conference will again be lead by Malachi
Knowles, Chairman of the Editorial Advisory Board and Edward
Wanambwa, Senior Editor.
In 2006 special guests to visit the American Golfer’s
Digest booth included, Lee Elder (Senior
Tour), Renee Powell (PGA/LPGA), Julius
Richardson (USGTF), Vern Burns (mini-tour
player), Charles Calhoun (Golf Channel’s
