The college scholarship program initiated by The 100 Black Men of Stamford in 2002 has seen over 60 scholarships distributed, totaling over $150,000. Scholarships, typically ranging from $2500 to $5000 per student for a school year, aim to recognize and motivate academic achievement among high school students in Fairfield County, Connecticut, with a particular emphasis on Black and African American males. The primary objectives of the program are to provide financial assistance to those in need to attend two and four-year colleges.
Beneficiaries of these scholarships have successfully gained admission to esteemed institutions such as Amherst, Gordon College, Hampton University, MIT, Sacred Heart, Spelman College, Syracuse University, Temple University, and the University of Connecticut. Notably, recipients continue to excel beyond the academic realm by assuming campus leadership roles, securing competitive internships, and actively participating in community service initiatives sponsored by 100BMOS and other community organizations.
