2021 Swing Into Their Dreams Scholarship Recipients Announced

The announcement of college scholarships recently awarded to three HBCU students by the Swing Into Their Dreams (SITD) Foundation is helping students “Strive, Thrive and Graduate.”

“We are elated & encouraged to announce our Scholarship Recipients for 2021! Each of thee HBCU students are exceptional academically, in character and in their community involvement,” said Pamela Parker, CEO and Co-Founder of Swing Into Their Dreams Foundation in a written statement. An awards video showcases the students and their grateful acceptances.

“Lynn & I want to send a special THANK YOU to each of you!  Without your involvement, hard work and support, we wouldn’t have been positioned to ensure these aspiring students received scholarships for the upcoming academic year.”

Parker also shared an open invitations with guests, supporters, and those interested in participating in their upcoming second annual event, saying, “As a special treat to each of you, we have invited them (scholarship recipients) to our upcoming April 5, 2022 Swing Into Their Dreams Charity Golf Tournament. Thus far, SITD has awarded four scholarships as a whole beginning in 2020.

Lynn Demmons, Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer, has diligently serves the organization in effort to make college affordable, and support students who aspire to play golf, while seeking degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, so they can become globally competitive.

Jaidyn Christophe 
Texas Southern University 
“My goal is to become a Speech Pathologist. After obtaining an undergraduate degree, I intend on attending graduate school to get a master’s degree in Speech Pathology. I would love the opportunity to work with children, either in the classroom or in a hospital setting, My goal is to help them properly formulate their basic language skills. In my studies, I want to help children regain confidence for success in the classroom and life.”

Michael Cortez
Morehouse College
“I’m a self-supporting student at Morehouse College since 2018. My journey has been a testimony to the resilience I’ve kept alive throughout my life. If I didn’t have mental fortitude, patience, discernment, gratitude, knowledge of self, and reason, I wouldn’t be at Morehouse College. My goal for my degree is to develop research for raising healthy Black children, with an emphasis on Black boys, in order to produce healthy Black people.  I know I can’t save everyone, but my goal is to be there for those who truly want the help.”

Lauryn Christophe
Alabama A&M University
“My ultimate goal is to be an entrepreneur and own a full -service salon. I am passionate about many things; but, I have found myself to have a natural gift to make people feel important and beautiful.  By attending Alabama A&M University, I plan to study and obtain a degree in Business. There is a certain amount of joy I feel when I can help people feel beautiful. I greatly appreciate this organization for helping me achieve my goals.”

HBCU Swing Into Their Dreams Golf Tournament was chartered in 2019 and the Canton, Georgia-based organization has been committed to excellence in all aspects. The event was developed to help alleviate the rising costs of college fees and debt for HBCU students. The inaugural event was successfully held on June 30 at Atlanta National Golf Club attracting a wide array of local and regional players and sports figures for a gourmet breakfast, silent auction, shotgun start and a challenging round of golf.

The Swing Into Their Dreams team is moving forward with their 2022 event and in the planning phases to make next year’s tournament even bigger and better with a goal of increasing scholarship awards.
