The tournament will honor the legacy of Charlie Sifford by partnering with the Charlie Sifford Centennial to host a clinic at FM Law Park, a First Tee Facility. The clinic will host 100 local youth to introduce them to the game while also providing physical and mental health training as well as career guidance. The clinic will take place with APGA Tour players, Invited Executives and APGA Tour staff members on Saturday, October 22 at 10am.

On Sunday, October 23, Invited Clubs will host four members of their Invited First Tee Gateway Program Participants. The Gateway Program partners with local First Tee chapters in Houston, Dallas and Atlanta to open the doors of Invited private clubs to First Tee junior golf participants with a focus on growing diversity within Invited clubs and throughout the golf industry. The program provides First Tee participants with junior golf memberships, which include tee times, use of the practice areas and the opportunity to compete in events.

Club Members and Staff serve as mentors to the youth, empowering them to build their strength of character on and off the course. Creating access for First Tee students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to join a private Club embodies Invited’s commitment to grow the game. The program is a vital component of companywide initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion within the company, clubs and in the golf industry. Recent APGA Mastercard Tour Championship winner and Farmers Insurance® Ambassador Kamaiu Johnson is an ambassador for the Gateway Program and will play a practice round with select local youth participants.

TOURNAMENT COMPETITORS

The field includes a mix of diverse golfers including Marcus Byrd, Ryan Alford, Kamaiu Johnson, Andrew Walker, Quinn Riley and Daniel Augustus.

  • Johnson won twice this season on the APGA Tour including the APGA Mastercard Tour Championship and won the season-long Lexus Cup Points race. The triumph also earned Johnson an exemption into early-stage events of the PGA TOUR LatinoAmérica series. The victory is Johnson’s fourth APGA Tour win in the last three years having also won the Tour Championship in 2020 and the APGA Tour’s Las Vegas stop each of the past two years.
  • Marcus Byrd won the second Fall Series event at the APGA Tour Valley Forge for his first win of the season. After finishing 5th in the 2022 Lexus Cup Standings, he is now T1 in the Fall Series standings and followed his victory by finishing T2 at the invite-only Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship.
  • Augustus, who finishes 6th in the Lexus Cup standings has multiple top finishes on the APGA Tour this year as he continues to search for his first victory of the season. Earlier this year, August conducted an interview with Golf Digest and the Fire Pit Collective revealing a childhood of tragedy and abuse.
  • Riley came to the APGA Tour mid-season after finishing 1st in the APGA Collegiate Ranking. Since joining the APGA Tour this summer after a strong college career at Duke University, he has three top-10 finishes and sits at No. 5 in the Fall Series Standings.
  • Walker is in his first full season on the APGA Tour and won for the first time at Baltusrol in August.

Removing the financial burden and providing opportunities associated with the game are a top priority for both Farmers® and the APGA Tour. Ensuring players have access to the tools and resources they need allows them to better focus on competing and is an initiative that Farmers is happy to support.

Farmers executives have taken time to listen to APGA Tour players, APGA Tour leadership, industry leaders and many others throughout the golf industry, and learned of the need for additional support on the collegiate level, resulting in Farmers recent sponsorship of the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA) and their HBCU events.  Recognizing the importance of growing golf and increasing access at every level, Farmers has also expanded their relationship with the APGA Tour and the APGA Foundation to help provide assistance for players at all stages of their journey.
