46 years ago I attended a Broadway Musical in Los Angeles based on the book of Matthew with Jennifer Holiday singing the lead song… I was greatly moved by the power, the anointing, and the message of the song, the play, and the performance!
It struck me while attending the opening of former boxer Floyd Mayweather’s Gym that it was more than just attending a gala or event….I received a powerful message and knew that God had ordered our steps to meet….God has something for us to do together in Truth and in Spirit using a Sports Platform that is different to us. He reminded me, “You might not be able to see it with the natural eye but it is something for you to see with your Spiritual eyes”.
Dressed in red Dr. Sheron C. Patterson ” aka “The Love Doctor “, former Vice President of Perkins School of Theology Executive Board, a former Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Dr. Patterson serves as Senior Pastor at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, is Co-founder of DFW Fairway Diva‘s (Divine, Inspiring Virtuous Anointed Sister’s) Golf Association, and a renowned author of 9 Books, 13-year survivor of breast cancer! She is a true force in the arena that seeks to end domestic violence, a true leader in the community, city, state, and nation, and I’m proud to call her Pastor and friend!
Keondra Mallard
Keondra Mallard aka “The Speed Doctor” is General Manager and Trainer at the Mayweather Gym. She is a World Class Track and Field Athlete, Olympic trainer and Star Athlete. Keondra is a Director of Education and Sports Consulting, developing a new generation of high-performance Athletes. Her remarkable ability to produce results creates athletes who are changing the pace of sports in the future. She has been seen on FOX , CBS, NBC, and NY Weekly. I would say Speed is in her genes her Father Milton Mallard is Assistant Head Coach at Texas A&M.
Although her expertise is Track and Field she is a golfer and I hope to collaborate with her to combine her approach to creating high-performance golfers emphasizing the value of hard work, consistency, communication, practice, honesty, acceptance, and results.
My goal is to recruit, train, and groom the best young golfers in the world spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, nutritionally, and educationally, with the Anointed Team God has chosen!
Also attending the grand opening event were Youth Pastor at TD Jakes Ministries and Potters House Pastor Venshard Dobbins, teacher, preacher and motivational speaker—using his voice to make a difference to help change the world!
I gave Pastor Robinson his first set of Ping golf clubs which he still has today. It was over 25 years ago, shortly after Bishop Jakes came to Dallas to open the Potters House and TD Jakes Ministries in 1996. It was my privilege to give Bishop Jakes his first Golf lesson with Pastor Robinson and Greg Robinson.
I Co-Chaired with Pastor Robinson, Roger Haley and Gerald Robinson (Pastor Robinson’s brother) for the first Pastor Conference Golf Tournament held in Dallas at Twin Wells Golf Course, now Irving Golf Club. I named the tournament “The Bishop’s Cup”! A few years later I was Chairperson and hosted a tournament for First Lady Serita Jakes at Woodcrest Country Club, now Grand Oaks Golf Club, which I named the tournament “The Queens Cup” !
Richard Mallard is the Grandfather of Keondra Mallard. Richard is one of the pillars along with Bob Ray Sanders, Commissioner Roy Brooks, the God Mother of Juneteenth Ms. Opal Lee, and many more leaders in DFW and the Historical I.M. Terrell High School in Ft. Worth, Texas that we all attended.
I.M Terrell High School (9th thru 12th grade) opened in 1882, as the city’s first Black school during the formal racial segregation in the United States. Richard and I graduated from I.M.Terrell in the Class of 1963! 10 years later, 1973, all schools became Integrated and I. M. Terrell High School closed its segregated doors, reopening in 1998 as an elementary school. After undergoing extensive remodeling and expansion, I.M.Terrell is now an Academy for STEM and VPA.
The legacy of I.M Terrell and those of us still around to tell the stories of then and now is rich! There are many stories to be told! God used the Mayweather Gym a very important Platform to bring those of us together who are in positions to make a difference in the community and the world!!!
Together we are one! Yes, your Arms are Too Short to Box With God! It is important to Trust the Truth. Life can make you Bitter or make you Better!
