Jamie Taylor, LPGA, is an alumna of Laurel School in Cleveland, OH. There she started her quest in growing the game of golf by starting the golf team her junior year. She was inducted into the Laurel School Sports Hall of Fame for this contribution. Today, as a blogger at Tecknots.com, a blog designed for people that want to know how to market and grow their business using technology, but don’t have an IT team to hold their hand through the process, she helps others learn to use technology tools.

After high school, Jaime attended Gannon University in Erie, PA, where she received a full ride to play on the women’s varsity team. Back then, as the only African American in her conference, Jaime served as captain her junior and senior year; was president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC); and received her MBA.

Her career as an LPGA Teaching and Club Professional began when she was hired as the first African American female Head Golf Professional for the Cleveland Metroparks in Cleveland, OH. There she ran 27-hole and 36-hole golf courses.

During her tenure, she created several women’s golf initiatives which were recognized by the Ohio Parks and Recreation, Crain’s Business Magazine, and the African American Golf Digest.

Jamie also had a unique opportunity to be the first golf professional to do weekly golf tips for WKYC. This six-week series helped her quest in inspiring minority youth by serving as a role model in the industry.

In 2015, Jamie decided she wanted to make a bigger impact on the golf community and moved to Florida, where she is currently the Event Coordinator for the LPGA Foundation. In this role, her focus is growing the game by attracting more females through the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Program.

She oversees the execution of junior clinics at LPGA Tournaments, LPGA Leadership Academies, Girls Golf Academies, eLeader Program, and scholarships. In her two-years with the LPGA, Jamie developed the eLeader Program, a nationally recognized volunteer program for girls, ages 13 – 18. She designed this program to keep teenage girls in golf and provide a way for them to give back. Jamie’s presence at the LPGA Headquarters has already made an impact because, as one of only three African Americans on their staff, she is a role model for young women who aspire to be in her position. “Working for the LPGA is just another stepping stone for me. My life goal is to make golf accessible to everyone. I want young men and women of ethnic backgrounds to know that they can be successful in the golf business!”
