I have missed a couple of blogs because of an extremely busy schedule – but promise you readers I will keep up on my writing the rest of the year.
Well, we are now deep into the middle of the year- hard to believe. May was extremely hot for us here in Ohio and thank goodness we finally got some rain.
Currently here at Clearview we are consumed with our first fundraiser of the year. On Sunday, NFL Hall of Fame member, Franco Harris (photo left) will I will MC host a dinner in honor of my dad, the “For the Love of the Game” dinner, and I will MC. We all play this game because we love it and no one loved it more than my dad. For a man of color to set out to build a golf course by hand in 1946, one would have to love this amazing game.
Several of the LPGA Tour members will be in attendance at the dinner including World Golf Hall of Fame member and a good friend of Clearview, Betsy King (photo left). In talking to Jenny Lidback who will also be coming, I discovered that she has had 14 Hole in ones in her lifetime, I was amazed, so I guess she must really love this game.
The Silversport/Clearview LPGA Pro-AM will be played Monday June 11 after the dinner. We are pleased to have SilverSport owned by Franco Harris as our Title Sponsor.
The 10th Annual Pioneer Golf Tournament will be held on June 23 & 24th. Jessie Brooks and Ron Fuller have been very loyal supporters of Clearview and Bill Powell and enthusiastically recruited golfers from all over the country to play in this 2 day event. The end of June – Golf Channel is coming by for 3 days to film our Clearview HOPE women veterans program. I hope some of you saw the CBS Special that the PGA of America did on growing golf. Several of our ladies were interviewed for a segment and will also appear in the Golf Channel piece!
During my USO Tour during the Vietnam War several soldiers met me and LPGA member Mary Lou Crocker – we are now having a reunion after 40 years as they are coming to Clearview to thank us for going to Vietnam. Mary Lou is coming in from Dallas and the guys are coming here from Minnesota, North Carolina and Southern Ohio.
Although they are not golfers, we will get them around our Historic Golf Course.
Will give all a follow up on this exciting time the end of June.
