Tiger Woods and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the richest and most recognised sportsmen on the planet – but the net worth of the iconic golfer stands way above his footballing counterpart. Ronaldo, a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and captains the Portugal national team, earns peanuts compared to America’s Woods.
Thanks to his 14 successive years as the highest earning golfer on the planet, 45-year-old Woods, in spite of having four surgeries on his back before winning his 15th major and first for 11 years at the Masters in 2019, remains a high earner in 2021.
Ronaldo, although increasing his earning by singing lucrative sponsorship deals, has had 16 full seasons as one of the best footballers on the planet, yet his pockets are not nearly as deep as former golf World No. 1 Woods.
According to the Daily Star Sport who delved into the full career earnings of both Woods and Ronaldo, with both men being named in the top 10 highest earning sportsmen for 2020.
Sitting third on Forbes’ 2021 list of the world’s highest-paid athletes, the 36-year-old Ronaldo earned a total of just over $119 million in the proceeding year.
That was broken down into a $69 million in salary and $50 million in endorsements that include a lifetime deal with Nike as well as Herbalife, Clear Haircare and Tag Heuer.
Forbes also had Ronaldo on their decade long-list between 2010–2019, putting him only second behind Floyd Mayweather Jr with total earnings of around $799 million.
While there is no definitive net worth figure for Ronaldo, but estimates that include both sponsorship deals and career earnings as well as investments in car and property put him at around $491 million
Tiger Woods Net Worth
Despite the peak of his fame coming during the early 2000s, Woods remains a big player in the sporting world and appeared on the 2020 highest earners list.
That total of $60 million would’ve been a welcome addition to his tally from 2010 to 2019, which Forbes rank at sixth on the all-time list with a mammoth $613 million.
Back in 2018, Forbes reported that Woods had earned more than $1billion since turning professional back in 1996, and that 90% of his tally had been from endorsements.
They put him tied ninth on their list of America’s Wealthiest Celebrities.
