Peep Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red Drip

by AAGD Staff

Launched today, May 1, Tiger Woods is offering a polo shirt for a hefty $175 price tag, despite it not even being his signature red. The golf legend has introduced his new Sun Day Red clothing line, which includes $135 shorts and a $50 ball marker. However, Woods’ decision to set such high prices for his new clothing and gear collection post his departure from Nike risks alienating his fan base.

A new limited edition ball marker has hit the market for $50, which is 2½ times the price of a similar product at the Masters tournament. Interestingly, the official launch of Woods’ “lifestyle brand,” Sun Day Red, has omitted a red polo shirt, a staple of his iconic Sun Day attire. Speculation remains whether such an item will be announced, given the suggestive name of his new range.

However, it’s the steep price tags attached to Woods’ new clothing and souvenir line that have stirred concern among his loyal followers. A hooded sweatshirt, as seen recently on Woods, reaches up to $200 for the “3D Knit Lightweight” version. Additionally, polos are priced at a maximum of $175, while a signature mock turtle neck goes for $150. Other items, like the Sun Day Red glove priced at $45, and caps and bucket hats up to $50, contribute to the premium range.

Woods has unveiled his clothing range as part of an expanded deal with TaylorMade, his long-standing club manufacturer, following his split with Nike earlier this year. David Abeles, the CEO of TaylorMade, emphasized the significance of the “Sun Day red” color in Woods’ career, noting that he plays golf on more than just Sundays.

Discussing the launch on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Woods explained the concept behind Sun Day Red, emphasizing its focus on athletes and performance enhancement. When asked about the name’s origin, Woods shared a personal anecdote about his mother associating red with his success in golf tournaments.

Despite the anticipation surrounding the Sun Day Red range, reactions on social media have been mixed, with some expressing disappointment over the high prices. Nevertheless, Woods continues to promote his brand, with plans to wear the line at upcoming tournaments like the PGA Championship at Valhalla Country Club in Louisville.

As the golf world awaits news of Woods potentially taking on the captaincy for next year’s Ryder Cup, speculation swirls around his decision-making process. With Woods balancing various business ventures, including the TGL indoor simulator golf league and the Sun Day Red launch, his next move remains uncertain.
