PALM BEACH SPORTS COMMISSION – The African American Golf Expo & Forum recently concluded its fourth annual event in The Palm Beaches, held from August 23-27, 2024. Organized by Jim Beatty, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, and Malachi Knowles (Inner City Youth Golfers), the event brought together golf enthusiasts, industry leaders, and community members at multiple venues, including the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott, the Riviera Beach Marina Village – Event Center, and John Prince Park.
The Expo & Forum addressed the needs, concerns, and trends faced by African Americans in the golf industry, aiming to increase inclusion and diversity within the sport.
Event Highlights:
Expo Community Project: The event kicked off on August 23 with the inaugural Expo Community Project at the Riviera Beach Heights Community Garden.
Golf Clinic: On August 24, a Golf Clinic for youth and adults was held at John Prince Park, followed by an Opening Reception at Bear Lakes Country Club.
Diversity Scramble: The Diversity Scramble took place on August 25 at Martin Downs Country Club, one of the few black-owned golf clubs in Florida.
Expo & Forum: From August 25-27, the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott hosted the main Expo & Forum, featuring seminars, conference sessions, and a trade show where attendees connected and showcased their products and services.
Hosted by Jim Beatty Golf Ventures, based in Omaha, Nebraska, the African American Golf Expo & Forum has established itself as a key event in promoting diversity within the golf industry. After successful editions in Louisville (2023) and Atlanta (2021-2022), the 2024 event in The Palm Beaches set a new benchmark for future editions.
