The Mizuho Black History Month Session 2026 was held on February 27, 2026, bringing together golfers, industry leaders, and advocates to celebrate the legacy and continued impact of Black excellence in golf. The program featured conversations highlighting the history of Black golfers, the challenges they faced in the sport, and the growing influence of diversity initiatives within the game. The session also connected the celebration of heritage with the future of the sport by emphasizing mentorship, opportunity, and representation.
The event was organized by Mizuho Americas, part of the global Mizuho Financial Group, one of the largest financial institutions in the world. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Mizuho was formed in 2000 through the merger of three major Japanese banks—Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Fuji Bank, and the Industrial Bank of Japan. The merger created one of the world’s first trillion-dollar banking groups and helped establish Mizuho as a major international financial services organization.
Today, Mizuho operates across banking, securities, trust services, asset management, and financial consulting, serving clients in dozens of countries. The company’s name, “Mizuho,” is a Japanese term referring to a bountiful harvest of rice, symbolizing prosperity and growth.
In recent years, Mizuho has also strengthened its presence in the golf world through sponsorships and leadership initiatives such as the Mizuho Americas Open, an LPGA Tour event that pairs professional players with elite junior golfers to inspire the next generation of athletes.
The Black History Month Session 2026 reflected the organization’s broader commitment to inclusion and community engagement. By spotlighting Black voices and achievements in golf, the event served as both a tribute to the pioneers of the game and a reminder that the future of golf is increasingly diverse, inclusive, and globally connected.
