Nominations Now Open for the 2026 Congaree Global Golf Initiative
The Congaree Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the 2026 Congaree Global Golf Initiative (CGGI) — a life-changing program designed to empower under-resourced and well-deserving high school students who aspire to play collegiate golf. The nomination period is open now through December 1, and anyone may nominate one or more candidates through the official online link.
The mission of CGGI is to provide talented and motivated young golfers with access to the highest level of athletic coaching and academic preparation necessary to succeed in college and beyond. Each year, the initiative identifies students from across the world who have demonstrated both academic excellence and golf potential but who may not have the financial means or exposure to advance their goals.
CGGI begins with a weeklong summer camp, held in South Carolina or Scotland, where participants are introduced to their advisors, instructors, and mentors. During the camp, students receive individualized golf training, academic guidance, and personal development coaching. The experience marks the start of a long-term relationship with the Congaree team, which continues to mentor and support each participant through the college recruitment and application process — and well into their collegiate years.
Participants in the Congaree Global Golf Initiative receive:
- Expert advisement through college recruitment, application, and selection
- Preparation for SAT and ACT exams
- Assistance building college and golf résumés
- Comprehensive golf instruction, mental coaching, and fitness planning
- Access to top coaches, advisors, and professional mentors across the sport
There is no cost to attend the program. All expenses for the summer camp, including travel, lodging, and meals, are covered by the Congaree Foundation.
Priority consideration is given to nominees who meet the following criteria:
- Expected to graduate high school in 2027, 2028, or 2029
- Have limited financial resources to pursue a college education in the United States
- Excel academically and demonstrate a strong commitment to earning a college degree
- Show ability to play golf at the collegiate level
- Are proficient in English
Founded in 2017, the Congaree Foundation uses golf as a global platform to create educational opportunities for youth who otherwise might not have access to such pathways. Through CGGI and other community initiatives, the foundation has established a model that blends mentorship, academic readiness, and elite-level golf training to open doors for deserving students worldwide.
Participants of CGGI not only sharpen their golf and academic skills but also join a lasting network of peers, mentors, and professionals known as Congaree Ambassadors. These ambassadors—many of whom include golf professionals, educators, and business leaders—continue to guide students as they navigate college, careers, and personal growth.
By supporting programs like CGGI, the Congaree Foundation fulfills its broader mission of transforming lives through education, character, and the game of golf. For many young people, the initiative becomes the bridge between potential and opportunity — proving that talent, when met with guidance and support, can transcend barriers.
Nominations for the 2026 Congaree Global Golf Initiative are open now through December 1. Coaches, educators, parents, or the students themselves are encouraged to submit nominations.
