Since 2012, the PGA TOUR has financially supported the Advocates Professional golf Association (APGA). The synergy over the years between the two organizations has resulted in APGA tournaments being hosted at TPC courses. Upping the ante, his past January, the tournament was held in conjunction with the Farmers Insurance Open. Benefits of the alliance include APGA winners receiving Monday qualifying scholarships for the Korn Ferry Tour. Another grand benefit is the APGA Lexus Cup winner receives a full scholarship through Korn Ferry Tour Q-School* (* N/A in 2020).
This week the APGA 2020 season contends in St. Augustine Florida, at the World Golf Village on Thursday and Friday, July 9-10.
The tournament will be conducted under social-distancing and health/safety guidelines in conjunction with regional authorities as the two-day event is contested on the Slammer & Squire golf course adjacent to the World Golf Hall of Fame. The Slammer & Squire was designed by architect Bobby Weed along with Hall of Fame members Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen.

J.P. Thornton of Houston won the APGA Tour at TPC Sugarloaf June 23 as the tour resumed play following the suspension of activity that limited all sports. In January, Tim O’Neal of Savannah, Georgia, won the APGA Tour at the Farmers Insurance Open and Willie Mack of Flint, Michigan, won the APGA Tour at Crossings at Carlsbad.
