Andre Springs is a towering figure in the history of golf, especially within the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) community. His journey began in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he picked up golf at a young age, driven by a deep passion for the game. His skills quickly became evident, leading him to Fayetteville State University, where as a freshman, he won the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) golf championship. This victory was just the beginning of a career marked by excellence.

After his collegiate success, Springs transitioned into coaching, where he made a profound impact. He became the head coach of the golf team at Livingstone College, a role in which he excelled for over two decades. Under his leadership, the Livingstone College golf team flourished, winning numerous CIAA championships and earning a reputation as a powerhouse in HBCU golf. Springs was not just a coach; he was a mentor, guiding young athletes both on and off the course.

His influence extended beyond coaching. Springs was instrumental in promoting golf within the African American community, working tirelessly to provide opportunities for young golfers to succeed in the sport.
