The 2022 APGA Tour season continues February 13 (practice rounds), 14-15 (36-hole tournament) at TPC Harding Park with the first event of the 2022 Lexus Cup season. The prestigious 7,153-yard par 72 course hosts the APGA Tour for the first time ever. This is one of the several new events on the APGA Tour schedule and the first of eight tournaments that will be played on PGA TOUR-owned TPC courses.
The 2022 season launched January 29-30 with the APGA Tour Farmers Insurance Invitational, the third annual tandem event played at Torrey Pines North and South in conjunction with the PGA TOUR’s Farmers Insurance Open. The final round on Sunday, January 30, was televised nationally by GOLF Channel, the first major television exposure for the APGA Tour, which has become a force driving diversity in the sport.
Patrick Newcomb won the tournament and earned $30,000 from the $100,000 purse. The victory provided him with an exemption into the Korn Ferry Tour’s Simmons Bank Open in Nashville on May 5-8. However, Newcomb passed that exemption on to longtime friend and runner-up Tim O’Neaa, one of the APGA Tour’s top players and winner of the 2020 Lexus Cup season-long competition.
Prize money for the tournament is $25,000 with some 50 players competing for the $7,500 first prize.
Fans planning to attend the tournament must know that per the San Francisco Department of Public Health mandate, any guest over 12 years of age who is actively eating or drinking inside the Cypress Grill and Lounge or Lakeview Terrace must provide a photo I.D. and proof of vaccination. This applies to all guests including those attending a private function. Valid proof of vaccination includes the actual vaccine card, a photo of the card along with a photo ID, a state-issued QR code, or an immunization record.
The APGA Tour at TPC Harding Park will be conducted under health/safety guidelines in conjunction with regional authorities.
