Ashaunta Epps: Golfing Expert, Community Leader and Visionary Entrepreneur

Ashaunta Epps is a visionary entrepreneur who has made a name for herself as a golfing expert and community leader. As the CEO and Founder of A Perfect Swing, Inc. (established April 2013), Ashaunta has made it her mission to help individuals use golf as a networking tool to advance in their careers. Her organization also includes a 501c3 nonprofit youth Foundation (established October 2014) and A Perfect Swing Association (established April 2015) which aims to introduce golf as a low impact alternative sport to young people while providing them with leadership, communication, and networking skills development workshops and events.

Ashaunta’s expertise in golf has been recognized by the Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association (LPGA), where she is a Class A Member. She has been named the 2022 and 2021 LPGA Southeast Section Professional of the Year and 2020 Teacher of the Year. She is also the Southeast Section President of the LPGA— only the 2nd Black to serve in the role in 44 years. She is Executive Committee liaison for the national Member Growth Committee, and the Chairperson for the LPGA Professionals national Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Ashaunta’s dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion in golf has earned her the recognition of the African American Golfers’ Digest, who has named her an Outstanding Leader in Golf.

Born in Kingstree, SC and now residing in Charlotte, NC, Ashaunta’s success in golf is not limited to her leadership roles in the LPGA. She has also won numerous local and national golf competitions, including the Black Enterprise Golf and Tennis Challenge, where she took longest drive and low gross honors two years in a row. Her expertise in golf has also landed her a spot as the featured instructor for the AIG Women’s PGA Championship Clinics show, Let’s Talk Golf with Ashaunta, where she shares her knowledge and experience with viewers.

Ashaunta’s commitment to giving back to her community is evidenced by her involvement in various organizations. The 47-year-old serves as the Chief Operating Officer for The Coalition for Teens Helping Teens and Vice President for Polished Pearls Leadership Seminars for Teen Girls. She is also a member of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Charlotte Chapter of National Black Master of Business Administration Association, Women in Technology International (WITI), and Home and Foreign Mission Development Center (Kingstree, SC). Ashaunta’s dedication to her community includes sponsoring youth golf days, Back-to-School supplies drives, mentoring high school athletes, tutoring, and serving in various community service projects.

She was a member of the LPGA Professionals selection committee for the Renee Powell Scholarship, which provides aid for black women looking to become a member of the LPGA Professionals. And also a member of the LPGA Black Professionals task force that lobbied for the creation of this scholarship

Ashaunta was the brainchild for the Monday Before the Show celebration of African American Female Golfers held yearly in the Orlando, FL area. The event boasts African American female golf professionals and amateurs from around the country celebrating Black female golf Trailblazers.

An advocate for increasing participation for women, Ashaunta started the African American Female Golfers Facebook page, business owners, and organizations worldwide to connect.  It has over 2400 Black women from 36 states and 4 countries. “I host a virtual happy hour in that group every other month to discuss golf topics and provide a golf network and support system for the ladies,” Says Ashaunta was was also the brainchild for the Black Golf Directory’s High Five Friday, which has raised thousands of dollars to assist competitive junior golfers with fees to compete at a high level.

In addition to her many accomplishments in the golfing world and her commitment to community service, Ashaunta is also a highly accomplished engineer. She holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Computer Science and currently works as a Sr. Modern Service Management Operations Engineer for Microsoft Corporation. Ashaunta’s ability to excel in multiple fields is a testament to her dedication, work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
