The 2025 PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach once again delivered unforgettable moments on and off the course, showcasing rising young talent alongside seasoned PGA TOUR Champions players. Held from September 19–21, 2025, the event took place on the iconic fairways of Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course in California, bringing together an elite field for one of the most inspiring tournaments in golf.
This unique event pairs 78 PGA TOUR Champions players with 78 junior golfers from First Tee, a youth development organization that teaches life skills and character through golf. The tournament’s format is a 54-hole pro-junior team competition, with professional and junior pairings playing together across three rounds. Beyond the competition, the PURE Insurance Championship is a celebration of mentorship, youth empowerment, and the values that golf instills both on and off the course.
One of the standout stories of this year’s tournament was Ashley Shaw from First Tee – Phoenix, who teamed up with veteran golfer Ken Tanigawa. Together, they made the cut and went on to finish an impressive 12th place at 9-under par. Ashley’s performance was remarkable not just for her poise under pressure, but also for the journey that brought her to Pebble Beach.
Ashley, a standout junior golfer, has been involved with First Tee for several years, honing both her skills and her leadership. Known for her strong work ethic and consistent play, she has won numerous local junior tournaments and has served as a mentor to younger participants in her chapter. Beyond her success on the course, Ashley is also active in her community, embodying the First Tee’s core values of integrity, perseverance, and confidence. Her performance at Pebble Beach is the latest milestone in what promises to be a bright future in golf.
Another notable First Tee participant, Arianna Beverly from First Tee – Triangle, also made waves. Playing alongside PGA TOUR veteran Stewart Cink, Arianna finished tied for 4th at 14-under, showcasing not only her skill but also her ability to thrive on one of golf’s biggest stages.

The week was filled with special moments that extended beyond the leaderboard. On Thursday, leaders from PURE Insurance created one of the tournament’s most memorable highlights by surprising two First Tee participants with invitations to join the First Tee College Scholarship Program. This prestigious initiative provides financial support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities throughout their college years. Among the recipients was Ashton Washington from First Tee – Tampa Bay, an exceptional student-athlete with a 4.8 GPA. Ashton is also deeply involved in his community, volunteering as an usher at his church. His talent and character caught the attention of golf legend Gary Koch, who was so impressed that he personally wrote Ashton’s letter of recommendation for the tournament.
The PURE Insurance Championship continues to stand out not only as a competition but also as a platform for growth and opportunity. It exemplifies the transformative power of golf—how the game can teach discipline, build confidence, and open doors to future success.

As Ashley Shaw, Arianna Beverly, and Ashton Washington demonstrated throughout the week, the next generation of golfers is not only talented but also deeply committed to making a difference in their communities. Their performances and stories remind us that the PURE Insurance Championship is more than a tournament; it is a celebration of mentorship, perseverance, and the enduring impact of golf on young lives.
The PURE Insurance Championship is a unique and inspiring annual event that pairs PGA TOUR Champions professionals with junior golfers from First Tee in a 54-hole pro-junior competition. The tournament, hosted at Pebble Beach Golf Links and occasionally at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, blends competitive golf with mentorship, youth development, and community engagement. Each professional is paired with a junior, and both play together round after round. While the professional’s score counts on the Champions Tour, the junior competes in a separate junior leaderboard.
