Addie Fripp Cobb has a lot of memories that span the longevity of her golf career as a professional instructor. As Executive Director/Golf Teaching Professional of her Addie Cobb Golf Academy (Valdosta, GA) she taught youth and adults the sport for over 8-years. In 2016, she was inducted into the African American Golfer’s Hall of Fame.
A certified teacher by the United States Golf Teachers Federation, her wide smile was, and still is, a welcoming sight to new golfers hoping to overcome the complexities for learning the methods for chipping, putting and driving the ball, all while learning the rules and etiquette associated with playing.
Born in New Jersey, Addie earned a degree in accounting and has had a variety of careers, one being a Master Cosmetologist. She has worked on Wall Street (NY) serving as an office manager for Levi Strauss & Co. Tirelessly, an selflessly, she has helped hundreds of junior and adult golfers hone their skills at Moody Air Force Base where her teaching skills and professionalism left a big impression on many of those who were lucky enough to receive her instruction.
The Master Cosmetologist was the owner of her own Addie’s Hair Salon with clients coming-and-going, and chitting-and chatting, with her daily. A socialite by nature, she still has a wealth of friends and family who constantly keep in touch, along with a doting husband, Al (Major-ret) who does his best to match up to his spouse’s ambitious spirit!
Listed as a Top Golf Instructor with the African American Golfer’s Digest, Addie is no stranger to change. For her, it always seems to bring her one notch higher on top.
