Bear Cub Picks a Fight with Golf Course Flagstick

Forget eagles, deer, turkeys, and a wide variety of birds and other wildlife, baby bears are now clearly the most adorable animal you may see while out on a golf course. Three cute baby Black Bear cubs stepped onto a North Carolina green this month—no clubs or balls required—and had a grand time tussling around and play-fighting, one particularly enjoyed sparing with the flagstick.

The scene occurred last Friday at Lake Toxaway in North Carolina when a worker caught three cubs, creating a huge scene at one of the holes. The antics lasted for about a minute as the three romped around the carefully manicured lawn without concern. Squaring off with the flat stick, the little cub gave it all he had, but could not get the stick to bend or break.

Eventually the trio of cubs had enough and scampered away, which was probably the best news for any golfers on the course, as the person who shot the video said the mother of the bears was nearby.

If you’re ever in a situation like this during a round, it’s probably best to score par and move to the next hole.
