As the birthday of Ken Bentley, Chief Executive Officer, Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour (APGA Tour) and Advocates Foundation, approaches on September 24th, this year’s celebration promises to be more than just a personal event—it’s an opportunity to make dreams come true for countless young individuals who aspire to greatness through golf.
For the past remarkable 14 years, the APGA and the Advocates Foundation have been a true path for growing and diversifying the game of golf.
Over the years, the APGA Tour has evolved and thrived under Bentley’s guidance. What began with just three tournaments has now expanded to an impressive 18 tournaments. The prize and bonus money have surged past the significant milestone of $1 million, a testament to the dedication and talent within the community.
The past season marked a momentous achievement as former APGA members secured full status on the PGA TOUR Champions, PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA TOUR Latino America. Their success reflects not only their own hard work but also the support and opportunities that organizations like the APGA provide.
The commitment to nurturing young talent is unwavering. Through the APGA Collegiate Ranking, doors have been opened for 10 recent college graduates, offering them free entry and membership on the APGA Tour. It’s a chance for them to pursue their dreams and make a mark in the world of golf.
The World Wide Technology Player Development Program is another successful APGA initiative. This program equips young players with essential resources, including equipment, lessons, club memberships, Full Swing Launch Monitors, and even covers Korn Ferry Q School entry fees. It’s about ensuring that young talents have the tools they need to succeed.
Through the APGA Foundation, more than 3,000 young people have been introduced to the game. Beyond just introducing them to the sport, over $200,000 in scholarships have been provided, making higher education more accessible to those with a passion for golf.
“My wife and I are personally kick-starting this fundraiser with a $10,000 donation with a goal of raising $75,000,” says Bentley in a personally sent email invitation. “I’m inviting you to be part of this opportunity to make a difference and introduce the game we love to hundreds of young people. Your contribution, no matter what size, will directly support their dreams and aspirations both on and off the golf course.”
