Chad Davis
(April 18, 2011)–Chad Davis knows all about crunching numbers, analyzing data and forecasting financial trends. The 20-year-old, sophomore is an economics major at Valdosta State University where his years of study have him well acquainted with the significant outcome that just a few digits can make.
Davis uses the same systematic approach learned in the classroom to his advantage on the golf course.
Growing up in Douglasville (GA) as an only child, Davis got exposed to the game at age 13.
“I knew my uncle was a golfer, so one day he took me to the driving range and I gave it a try when I was 13 and I have been addicted to golf ever since,” admits Davis.
Davis moved to Valdosta to attend college and to be on his own and is doing a fine job at it, carrying 16 credit hours.
“I wanted to be independent and out on my own–plus Valdosta is a lot warmer,” he says. “I like business and I got into it during my economics class in high school. I was really drawn to it and someday hope to own my own shipping company like FedEx or UPS.”
He manages to practice three times a week at Stone Creek Golf Course (Valdosta) where he is a member. He gets the opportunity to play a full round about once a week.
“I have won 4-man scrambles in Atlanta (GA) several times and won my first “dogfight” this summer—a dogfight uses your handicap in relationship to calculating points for your score.”
An avid golfer for the last seven years, when Davis is not playing golf his games of choice are ping pong and basketball.
“I like to use TaylorMade golf clubs because they feel so much better than any other clubs that I have tried. I have my set custom fitted and it makes a huge difference in my game and how I play.”
”My greatest golf challenge is keeping my game consistent from day to day. I am now practicing more with a purpose in mind, instead of just going out and slapping the ball,” he says.
”I love the game because you can never master it. It’s like chasing perfection.”
