Hello All,
Last week I thought seriously about throwing in the towel and stepping away from golf forever until a young man, and a young woman, both shared with me that what I had shared with them had changed their lives. I was hurting, and thinking whether I had made a mistake by choosing the career path I’d chosen.
I thought about how hard it was becoming accepted and appreciated in the golf industry. No matter how hard I tried, and no matter what I sacrificed, it didn’t seem like it was enough—even though I felt that I had done my best.
After a few meetings and conversations, last week I almost came to the conclusion that enough was enough, and I was quitting!
I was just about to throw in the towel when a young woman played me this video below that I am now sharing with you. She made this profound statement to me: “Ms. Lee, you can’t quit and you can’t give up. Remember it’s not about you!
Her statement was so powerful. It hit me in the pit of my stomach, bringing me to my knees in prayer. I had to ask God to forgive me; because I was losing my focus…I was forgetting that golf was not a career for me it was my ministry.
Maya Angelou wrote a poem to commemorate a milestone birthday of a close friend of hers, and the message was of empowerment and hope, of encouragement and generosity. It was a call to action- an answer to the question we should all ask ourselves about our ability to make a difference in our own lives, as well as the lives of others.
The question is ” How ?”
The answer is ” I must continue”
“Continue to be who and how I am….To astonish a mean world with my acts of kindness…”
“Continue to let gratitude be the pillow upon which I kneel to say my nightly prayers. and let faith be the bridge. I build to overcome evil and welcome good “.
” Continue to dare to love deeply and risk everything for those things that are good”–Maya Angelou
Thanks to the young woman, and the young man, who came to me and let me know that it was not about me, but the ministry; and that golf was only the platform that God had given me to use to make a difference in their lives.
I was also reminded to continue to trust the truth, never give up, and no lies, betrayals, deceptions or demons from the pits of hell can stand in the way of an anointed appointment!
Eternally grateful,
Gladys Lee
