On June 4th and 5th, the Cornhusker Golf Club of Omaha, Nebraska, held its 83rd Cornhusker Tournament at Tregaron Golf Course in Bellevue, Nebraska. This event dates back to 1939 – the pre-WWII era.
Cornhusker Golf Club President, Earl J. Johnson stated that the tournament is a great way to support the community and provide fellowship among several golf clubs from nearby states.
This historic event, recognized as the opening tournament to a regional golf series, includes tournaments put on by historically Black golf clubs that feature outings in Omaha, Des Moines, Topeka, Wichita, Kansas City, St. Louis and Minneapolis, and more.
The Omaha tournament included a women’s flight won by Judy Rhodes of Omaha, a senior men’s flight won by Ron Wilson of Kansas City, and 4 men’s flights that awarded prizes to first, second and third prize winners Proceeds from the tournament will be used to support the All In The Family Mentoring and Support Services organization in Omaha, NE. Its mission promotes careers, entrepreneurship, and economic stability for individuals in the personal service and trade industries
