On Wednesday, October 20, 2021, D’Lashun Malinda “DeDee” Delaine, age 37, passed away at Cleveland Clinic after a long battle with illness. Affectionately known as “DeDee”, she was born on June 13, 1984, in Youngstown, Ohio, a beloved daughter of Carnell Delaine Sr. and Tonja (Cook) Delaine. D’Lashun was the second of three children born to their union.
D’Lashun accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of twelve and was baptized at the New Bethel Baptist Church. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School and was a graduate of Life Skills High School of Youngstown. She went on to attend ITT Technical College in pursuit of a degree in Criminal Justice.
D’Lashun was a member of Abundant Love Outreach Ministry where she served as Church Secretary and held other positions in the church, as her health permitted. She was a former member of Old Landmark C.O.G.I.C. where she was the Youth Choir Director. D’Lashun was a loving mother to two children, D’Ozjanae and D’Audia Jones, and she helped in rearing her nieces, Sha’myah Delaine and D’lashawn Delaine, and her nephew, Christopher Delaine Wilson.
D’Lashun enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, watching comedy and True Crime TV shows.
D’Lashun was proceeded in death by her son, Deshawn Delaine, a sister, Shamika Delaine, grandfather, Freeman Floyd Cook, step-grandfather, Bishop James Kitchen, great-grandparents, John and Maggie Mitchell, and cousin Terri Delaine.
She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, two daughters who were her heart and joy, D’Ozjanae and D’Audia Jones, a brother, Carnell Delaine Jr., maternal grandmother, Pastor Mary Cook-Kitchen; two nieces, Sha’myah and D’lashawn Delaine; a nephew, Christopher Delaine Wilson; aunt, Debert Cook (Aziz Gueye Adetimirin) of New York, NY; and she will be sadly missed by her significant other, George Roberson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration Of Life service for D’Lashaun was held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Abundant Love Outreach Ministry, 93 E Myrtle Avenue, Youngstown, OH at 11am. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone who helped to make D’Lashun’s life journey more pleasant during her long illness.
