The Edmonton Heights Neighborhood Association is gearing up for an exciting summer camp golf trip that promises to be a memorable experience for young participants. Scheduled for Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, the event will take place at the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. With a headcount of at least 20 kids aged between 5 and 13, this outing guarantees fun-filled activities and a taste of the golfing world.
“The day will kick off with a brief tour of the Club House, allowing the kids to get a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes operations and immerse themselves in the golfing atmosphere,” says Howard Bankhead, Executive Director of Par Excellence Youth Development (PEYD). Following this, they will have the opportunity to explore the practice facilities and take a walk around holes 1 and 2 on the Par 3 course, getting a close-up view of the intricacies of the game.
If space permits, the children will have the chance to hit balls on the driving range under the guidance of professionals or engage in a demonstration and question-and-answer session with a seasoned golf pro. This interactive experience aims to foster curiosity and enhance their understanding of the sport.
Additionally, the itinerary includes a putting exercise, providing the kids with an introduction to the crucial skill of putting on the green. This hands-on activity will allow them to practice their technique and develop an appreciation for the precision required in golf.
To ensure everyone’s comfort, the plan includes a designated area for the children to enjoy their bag lunches on one of the verandas, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community. Engaging in casual conversation and sharing a meal will further enrich their experience and create lasting memories.
At 11:30 AM, the participants will bid farewell to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and board the bus for their return to the center. The journey back will be filled with laughter, stories, and reflections on the exciting adventure they had just embarked upon.
