PASSION

What do you get when you cross a youth’s passion for golf with a desire to reach the pinnacle of the game?  Egypt Hughes.  “My daughter is looking to enroll in the Greg Norman Golf Champion Academy in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the Fall,” says her mother Ruth Lamb.  The total cost of tuition for a full academic school year (2018-2019) is what has lead to her establishing a GoFundMe campaign for the bright, 15-year old.

“We’ve selected this institution because offers two great programs, K-12 International and, which both serve the academic and skill-based needs that no other school is able to demonstrate,” her mother continues.  “They offer AP courses, PSAT, ACT, and SAT training, as well as incorporate time management with each student.  My daughter is currently an Honor student, with a passion, since she was age 14, for wanting to be a pro golfer.  She also has been working on a junior golf clothing line since she was 12-years-old.”

Egypt has been playing the sport since she was 5-years old.

“By participating in the Greg Norman Champion Golf Academy, my daughter will receive the opportunity to advance in her academics with the same regulations as students who are not involved with the program.  This school has a narrow focus that allows golf students the flexibility of time, balancing their golf instruction and skills with their academics.”

 AMBITION

“That is why I am actively seeking all grants, such as the ACE grant, and all other scholarship opportunities that may be available to her to help pay for her education and golf instruction at Risen Christ Christian Academy,” continues her mother.  “By training at Greg Norman Champion Golf Academy, I believe she will get better preparation, and this is an excellent opportunity for her to excel and put her right on track to a pro golfer’s career that she desires.  I don’t want her to miss out on a good thing!  I know there is assistance for college, but this is a golf high school.  If I can find the assistance she would be the first African American female to attend.”

“She is very serious about her talent and is very passionate about developing her skills.  She enjoys the sport and has played in many tournaments, and most recently participated in the Grand Finale on the Global Junior Tour back in December 2017.”
