Emanuel William Robinson was born February 9, 1939, to the late Willie and Pauline Robinson. He passed this life December 2, 2022.
Emanuel attended Council Training School, he joined the army February 7, 1962—February 6, 1964. He was stationed in Berlin Germany upon completion of service he was honorably discharged.
Emanuel grew up in Huntsville, AL and was well known in the community. Emanuel, also known as “Red” Robinson, was the first Black cameraman to work a camera at WAAY TV station. He was a very outgoing person, played softball and golf, and was best known as a golfer, if not the best in Huntsville.
He won numerous golf tournaments throughout the state of Alabama and some in Kentucky. Emanuel (Red) was also an instrumental instructor in teaching young golfers the art of golfing in Huntsville’s First Tee program. Emanuel was a certified welder for many years until he changed his profession to be a supply clerk with Redstone Arsenal where he then retired.
Emanuel leaves to cherish his memory one son Grayland E. Robinson; daughter-in-law Angela M. Robinson; grandchildren: Grayland E. Robinson Jr. and Ky’Anna S. Robinson; three great-grandchildren: Jael Robinson , Asia Robinson, and GraceLynn Robinson; two brothers: Clarence Robinson and Willie Robinson; two sisters-in-law: Cynthia Robinson and Lillian Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.
Funeral service was held at 1:30p.m., Sunday, December 11,2022 at the Saint Mark Baptist Church (6475 Moores Mill Road Huntsville, AL 35811) with Pastor Jeremiah Chester officiating. Mr. Robinson will lay in respose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing was held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 and 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Royal Funeral Home.
