October 22, 2019—East Palo Alto T-Ball Pitching Machine struck another home run, this time it was on the golf course during their 15th Annual Golf Classic. The fundraising event attracted friends and fans for a pristine, 7:30 a.m. morning tee-off on Saturday, October 19 at The Club at Sunrise, 5483 Clubhouse Drive, Las Vegas, NV. In attendance were sports celebrities Eddie Hart, 1972 Olympian, gold medal track & field sprinter, Nate Oliver, 7-year major league career Los Angeles Dodgers, Curt Ford, Former Saint Louis Cardinals and Renaldo Brown, Olympic High Jumper., along with Charlie Weaver, and others.
Festivities for the annual event kicked off on Friday, October 18 with a 6:00 p.m. hospitality welcome reception at the Westgate Resort near the gleaming Las Vegas Strip and concluded on Sunday, October 19 with a fun, family-style picnic.
ABOUT
East Palo Alto T-Ball/Pitching Machine is a 28-year-old 501(c)3 organization that provides an opportunity for under-served children to participate in an affordable, minimally competitive and academically supportive athletic program. Players range from five to fifteen years old and the organizational emphasis is on teaching the ideals of teamwork and good sportsmanship. In 2017 the club led a delegation of parents and youth on a historical trip to Havana, Cuba for competitive play with a local baseball team. “It was a trip of a lifetime and gave participants a greater global outlook with the potential of becoming global leaders,” recounts Coach Gene Tate who initiated the tour. To this day, the international excursion continues to a much talked about highlight life experience for the youngsters who attended.
