Named in honor of the late Israel Brooks, Jr, the tournament raises scholarships for students in pursuit of “Educational Excellence”. Brooks was the first African American to serve as a State Trooper for the South Carolina Highway Patrol (1967) and later appointed by President Clinton as a US Marshall for the District of SC (1994).
