The 2025 edition of the International Pairs Golf Competition concluded in dramatic fashion over the weekend at the picturesque Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, with Julius Fadairo and Essiet Udeme claiming victory after an outstanding performance.

Representing Seplat Energy, the pair delivered a combined total of 74 stableford points over 36 holes—scoring 36 points on Day 1 and finishing with an impressive 38 points on Day 2. Their consistency and strong finish helped them outplay a competitive field and secure the coveted top spot. With this win, Fadairo and Udeme will go on to represent Nigeria at the International Pairs World Finals scheduled for October at the renowned Sun City Golf Resort in South Africa.

This year’s tournament was highly competitive and generously backed by sponsors including Seplat Energy, Pepsi, Suzuki by CFAO, RwandAir, and True Blue Energy. Tied for second place were the teams of Ganiyu and Eddie, and Nsenobong Akpabio and Edidiong Idiong, each finishing with 70 points. Madudu and Orok took fourth place, followed by Walter and Onofiok in fifth.

In the guest category, former Nigerian football star Jonathan Akpoborie topped the leaderboard with a two-day total of 54 points. At the closing ceremony, Remi Olukoya, Nigeria’s representative for International Pairs, praised the high level of competition and smooth organization. He expressed optimism for Nigeria’s chances at the world finals and reaffirmed his dedication to growing the tournament in future editions.

“This year’s turnout and the quality of play have been remarkable,” said Olukoya. “We’re confident our team will make Nigeria proud on the global stage, and we remain committed to enhancing the experience for all participants in years to come.”
