From Setback to Comeback, Tiger Woods Returns To Hero World Challenge

He’s returned.

Tiger Woods marked his comeback at the conclusion of the Hero World Challenge on Sunday. Although the results didn’t align with the usual Tiger Woods standard, as he wasn’t consistently in contention during each round, he expressed satisfaction with how his body responded. The Hero World Challenge is hosted by Tiger and took place this year, Nov 30–Dec 3, at the Albany Golf Club in New Providence, Bahamas.

“I still have game; it’s whether or not the body can do it or not,” he stated, as reported by CNN. “I’m pleasantly surprised with how I’ve recovered every day. Like I said, the ankle is fine. I’m a bit sore in other parts, but that’s ok.”Woods’ concern regarding his leg was not confined to his right ankle; rather, it extended to other compensatory areas, and he acknowledged lingering pain in his leg.“I’m very excited about how the week has turned out,” he added. Having withdrawn from The Masters in April due to visible limping, Woods underwent a subtalar fusion a few days later to address pain resulting from previous surgeries.

Scottie Scheffler emerged on top of the 20-player field with an impressive display at the Albany Golf Course. Scheffler finished with a total of 20-under 268, earning the American his first victory since the Players Championship earlier this year. Woods came in at 18th, at even par.

The Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas marked the legendary golfer’s return to tournament play since that withdrawal. “Just like I said to you guys on Tuesday, I’m curious … what this is going to look like,” Woods expressed, as reported by AP Sports. “I haven’t done it in a while — I haven’t done it with my ankle the way it is now, and I was excited each and every day to kind of get through it and start piecing rounds together again. I haven’t done this in a long time, so it was fun to feel that again.”
