The final round of the Aramco Team Series was scheduled for this week, beginning on October 27th and concluding on the 29th. This prestigious tournament, played in only five countries and spanning three continents, marked the culmination of the 2023 series. Girls On The Green Tee (GOTG-T), an organization dedicated to empowering women of color in golf, had the honor of participating in round 3 of this series. This historic event saw them making history alongside WOCG (Women Of Color Golf) Advisory Board Member Vasti Amaro.
The impact the organization had on the world stage with this tournament was undeniably a remarkable milestone and achievement, worthy of recognition by sports professionals, golf players, enthusiasts, and many others. However, what touched the founder’s heart the most was a single letter from a parent of one of the GOTG-T girls. It might have appeared as an ordinary “thank you” note from a parent, but as one reads it, there is nothing ordinary about the sentiments expressed within.
As the founder of Girls On The Green Tee, their dedication to empowering women of color in golf was reaffirmed by this letter, emphasizing the significance of their mission and the positive impact they are making on young lives. The letter highlighted the transformative power of golf in the lives of their daughters, speaking of newfound confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging gained through their experiences with GOTG-T. It served as a testament to the power of representation and the importance of creating inclusive spaces in sports.
Readers are invited to explore this remarkable letter for themselves. With it, they may consider joining GOTG-T in 2024 as they celebrate a decade of their incredible journey, committed to making a difference and inspiring more young women to pursue their dreams on and off the golf course.
