The Greenwood Golf Juneteenth Golf Classic and Gala was a celebration of unity, diversity, and empowerment. It provided an opportunity for friends to come together as a community and commemorate the significance of Juneteenth while enjoying the sport of golf. “The day was filled with excitement, camaraderie, and moments that will be cherished for years to come,” said Chris Word, CEO, Greenwood Golf. The event, held at Rocky River Golf Club, Concord, NC, was comprised of a morning golf tournament followed by a spectacular evening gala with food, drinks, music, a silent auction, and emcee FLYTY.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to our event sponsors, volunteers, and partners who played a crucial role in making this event a resounding success. Your support and commitment are greatly appreciated, and without you, this event would not have been possible,” said Word who is looking forward to making an even greater impact in the years to come.
In 2021, Juneteenth became a Federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The holiday marks the anniversary of the final announcement proclaiming the freedom for slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865.
