Why did we start Greenwood? – Founder Chris Word, originally from East Saint Louis, Illinois, now residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, is passionate about the game of golf. Chris’ passion for the game comes from his years playing and the range of diverse players that he has met. He believes that “There is a diverse community of golfers who love the game. I have played with women, children, professional athletes, entrepreneurs, business professionals, veterans and even retirees who wore jeans and smoked cigarettes the whole round. What I have come to appreciate is that no matter who you are, your background, beliefs, or ethnicity when you are on the course, you are a part of the community of golfers that love the game. I founded Greenwood Golf to capture the essence of that diversity and experience.”
