That’s right. TIGER HOOD, aka “Nappy Gilmore” aka “Patrick Barr” is New York City’s famous street golfer whose passion and antics are generating lots of attention in this American concrete jungle.

A special type of person, this Tiger is a local legend known for bringing golf to the streets of NYC.  He’s also an amazing street photographer who displays his photographic work—taken mostly during the 1990’s to 2000—alongside a piece of spread-out green golfing carpet while hitting his uniquely constructed golf balls.

It all began one day while this Tiger was displaying his photographs and found a golf club in a garbage can. 11-years-later, he still enjoys hitting from from the street on a green carpet, showcasing his skills to the public.

Tiger Hood plays his ‘Street Golf’ using empty milk cartons which he collects from trash bins throughout the city. Any day that he’s playing his street ‘fairways’ attract dozens of fans who simply come to meet him, watch, and even try their swing on Minetta Lane in New York City’s West Village. The milk containers are stuffed with newspaper and wrapped in packing tape forming makeshift golf balls. “It will fly a good distance,” says this Tiger about the balls.

Born in Jamaica, this Tiger arrived in New York in 1968 when he was 4-years-old. Since then, he’s lived in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Florida, and Atlanta,Ga. Getting homesick, he returned to New York.
