HBCU Association of Birmingham Launches Inaugural Golf Classic at Woodward

The HBCU Association of Birmingham is set to host its Inaugural Swinging With Purpose Golf Tournament on April 24, 2026, at Woodward Golf and Country Club in Bessemer, Alabama. The tournament will tee off at 8:30 a.m., bringing together golfers, community leaders, alumni, and supporters for a day of competition, fellowship, and scholarship fundraising.

Designed as an 18-hole scramble format, the event welcomes players of all skill levels to participate in a fun and competitive atmosphere. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams, and participants can also take part in a silent auction and raffle. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, followed by an awards ceremony to recognize standout performances and contributions.

The purpose of the tournament extends beyond the fairways. Proceeds will support scholarships and initiatives aligned with the HBCU Association of Birmingham’s mission to promote higher education, student success, and community engagement tied to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Woodward Golf and Country Club, located at 2141 Wheel Drive in Bessemer, provides a scenic and challenging backdrop for the inaugural event.
