With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. David Ofori, a beloved father, mentor, and trailblazer in Ghanaian and African golf. Born on October 5, 1950, in Alobgoshi, Accra Achimota, David lived a life defined by faith, family, excellence, and service to others. David passed away on July 19 at at age 75.

He attended Victoria International School in Alobgoshi, Accra Achimota, and later earned a Level A Degree in Business and Accounting, which equipped him with the knowledge and discipline that shaped both his career and character. A devout Christian, David was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Accra, where he served faithfully and exemplified humility and kindness.

David was married to the late Mrs. Agnes Ofori, and together they raised nine wonderful children: Reginal Ofori, Mabel Clayman, Felix Ofori, Richy Ofori, Philip Ofori, and Patience Ofori, along with three others who cherish his legacy of love and perseverance.

A pioneering member of the Ghana and Africa PGA, David stood among the founding figures of professional golf in Ghana, alongside Jeff Doe, David Abaloo, and Paul Tetteh. His vision and leadership helped shape the sport’s development in the country. He introduced the innovative idea of a 5% tournament winnings contribution to fund transportation and accommodation for players—an initiative that expanded opportunities and strengthened unity among golfers nationwide.

David made history as the first person to open a golf shop in Ghana, located at the Achimota Golf Club, providing players with access to essential gear and resources. Throughout his distinguished career, he won numerous awards, trophies, and citations recognizing his exceptional golfing talent, generosity, and community service.

Beyond the fairways, David was known for his warmth, mentorship, and laughter. His generosity touched countless lives, and his passion for golf inspired generations. He represented Ghana in several international tournaments, proudly flying the nation’s flag with distinction.

The burial ceremony for Mr. David Ofori took place on September 20, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow golfers who came together to celebrate his remarkable life.

David Ofori’s legacy of faith, leadership, and compassion will continue to live on—in the hearts of his loved ones and in the history of golf across Africa.
