Nowadays, when the subjects of golf and networking come up there is a new approach being taken to this ‘green’ topic.  For example, on the night of Thursday, April 10, 2018, Horace Barker, 1st Vice President, Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, hosted a seminar at the Capital Grille, located inside of the iconic Chrysler Building on West 51 Street in New York City.

The 6:00 p.m. function was themed, “Take Your Investments and Your Golf Game To A New Level,” and it brought together 20 golf local enthusiasts from across a wide spectrum of businesses for a casual dinner.

Barker, a most gracious host, excellently paired the evening with a delicious meal and fine wines.  Lively conversation and introductions were made across the room laced with African mahogany paneling and Art Deco chandeliers while Barker asked a few golf trivia questions then shared tidbits of his golf escapades in a warm, stately setting.

The avid golfer certainly knows his stuff in the realm of finance, too.  Barker graduated from Claremont University and has over 22-years of experience in the financial sector. From his 399 Park Avenue Office in New York City, he works closely with individuals to help preserve and grow wealth for their long-term goals.

Among the services which he provides are wealth management, 401(k) rollovers, alternative investments, annuities, foreign exchange, life insurance, long-term care insurance and retirement planning. “I believe success in achieving important financial goals starts with a comprehensive wealth strategy. I will help you define what is most important to you and then formulate the strategies that are suited for your needs, whether you are accumulating wealth or investing for income, solidifying your retirement plan or devising a distribution approach that meets your lifestyle and legacy goals,” says Barker.

The highlight of the night was a video presentation and golf tips by PGA Professional Rick Nielsen, Director of Golf at Turtle Cove Golf Center at Pelham Park in the Bronx.  Nielsen has over 30 years of experience specializing in golf instruction, clubfitting and golf fitness. Nelson offered up a swath of information on the various parts of a golf club, proper grip, clubface alignment and simulation of the proper golf swing.

All in attendance seemed to gain tremendous information from listening to Nielsen while wholly participating in the Q&A session that followed—where many shared their most difficult challenges and quirks with the game, seeking out Nielsen’s extensive experience.

So, take a lesson here.

If you’re looking to get in front of more prospective clients or to do business in a new way, try adding golf into the marketing mix—You’ll be surprised at who just may show up.
