How Can Black Golfers Thrive in the Marketplace? A Thought-Provoking Moment at the Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable

by John Perry

During the the 7th Annual Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable on Wednesday, January 22 during the 77th PGA Show held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, a thought-provoking moment prevailed when African American Golfer’s Digest contributing reporting Mr. Byron Perry (Tulsa, OK) stood up and asked a very pertinent question about obstacles facing Black golfers and Black golf businesses.

Mr. Perry wanted to know how do “we” get included in the mass marketplace of golf. Billy Jones, leader of Gold Links, an upstart branding and social media influencer company responded to Perry’s question from the stage along with some of his members, some of whom includes retired NBA player JR Smith, rapper Ja Rule, as well as social media influencer Roger Steele.
