The pocket-size book contains over 125 golf terms.  This is Cook’s second book in the “How To Speak” series that teaches everything from everyday jargon to the history of golf.

In this book, Cook has gathered some of her most favorite golf terms and stories and paired them with illustrations that are just as colorful as the words.

 

Some terms included in the book are:

  • NASSAU: A tripartite bet originated in the 1900s at Nassau Country Club on Long Island, New York. Money is wagered on the front nine, the back nine, and the overall eighteen. Most popular bet in the game.
  • PULL: For a right-handed golfer a shot that doesn’t curve but lands considerably left on the hole. The ball will go in the opposite direction for a lefty.
  • SANDBAGGER: A golfer who has a higher handicap than his skills indicate.  Viewed with disdain.
  • SKULL: Hitting the ball above its equator, causing it to skid on the ground.
