Howard Bankhead has been honored as a “Mover & Shaker” for January 2025 by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. This recognition highlights individuals who contribute to workforce growth through new hires, talent acquisition, and promotions.

Bankhead serves as the Executive Director of Par Excellence Youth Development (PEYD), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through educational programs that promote fitness, character, and academics. Bankhead introduces kids in Madison, Morgan, and Jackson counties to the world of golf at area schools. PEYD’s mission statement is “to positively influence the lives of youth by providing educational programs that encourage fitness, character, and academics.” The program offers after-school programs, summer golf programs, and drive, chip, and putt lessons. Bankhead was inducted into the African American Golf Hall of Fame in the spring of 2023.

A graduate of Alabama State University, Bankhead holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Management. With over 35 years of experience in jazz programming, he has played a key role in organizing events like the signature Jazz-N-June on the Mountain.
