CARSON, CA – The unofficial start of the summer festival season will kick off in Los Angeles’ South Bay with the Dymally International Jazz and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27 at the Dignity Health Sports Park Tennis Stadium in Carson.
This year’s lineup is stellar and is sure to draw a diverse crowd of attendees.

Angelique Kidjo, an African music icon and five-time Grammy winner, is set to headline the festival along with Stanley Clarke, the co-headliner who is a bassist and founding member of Return to Forever. Other talented performers include Jonathan Butler, a South African singer-songwriter and guitarist; Judith Hill, a singer; Teodross Avery, a noted saxophonist; and Third World, one of the most popular and longest-lived reggae bands ever. The main stage will be hosted by Capone, a comedian and actor, and Roland Martin, an award-winning journalist on the Black Star Network. The festival will feature a marketplace where Black artists, art dealers, and galleries will sell original paintings, limited edition prints, home decor, accent pieces, and gifts.
An exciting slate of emerging artists will be featured on the second stage.

The Dymally International Jazz Arts and Arts Festival has been utilizing cultural art to promote and inspire thought since 2019. The festival is named after the late Mervyn Dymally, a globalist who traveled to more than 60 countries during his political career, promoting cultural exchange worldwide. The event aims to honor his legacy by bringing the best of jazz and jazz-influenced music, arts, and culture to Cal State University, Dominguez Hills, and nearby communities.
The proceeds from the festival benefit university programs such as the CSUDH Presidential Scholars and non-profit programs, including The Dymally Fellows Program and the African American Leadership Training Summit.
