“I am pleased to welcome Kelley as a part of our executive team,” said Debert Cook, publisher at African American Golfer’s Digest. “Kelley’s history in the sport and business of golf overflows with success in growing interest in the sport among youth and adults. His experience, personal passion, and insight will be a tremendous asset to our publication as we continue to further our mission of growing the game among African Americans.”
Kelley Pierre, 32, a Brooklyn, NY resident, earned a Master of Business Administration from Long Island University and both Bachelor and Associate degrees in Social Behavioral Sciences from Medgar Evers College. “I’m honored to join the executive team of African American Golfer’s Digest, a publication that edifies Black golfers. Debert has been a great mentor to me and has helped me to become more involved in this $84 billion industry. The late Buddy Cooper was pivotal to me staying in the game and I know that this new role that I am taking on makes him proud. Golf has a long way to go in growing diversity in its professional and c-suite ranks, and I’m looking forward to being part of the progress, as the late Nipsey Hussle said, ‘The marathon continues'”
Pierre is Founder & CEO of All Access Golf, a program devoted to exposing children in inner urban communities to the game of Golf. All Access Golf provides the resources and principles for acquiring golf knowledge within urban neighborhoods and skills that are needed professionally.
In the new role, Pierre will be responsible for overseeing and developing business relationships while cultivating new opportunities between the publication with public, private, and civic organizations and institutions. The appointment is effective immediately.
