12 Ladies from The Golf Club of Dallas took to the Links Saturday March 6, 2024 to learn how to play on a Nine Hole Par 3 Golf Course.
The #6 Lesson was played as a four(4) person Team Scramble with three teams competing against each other.
Skills taught in 5 previous sessions were:
1.Orientation/ Etiquette
2. Putting
3. Chipping /Pitching
Afterward, participants viewed the movie “From the Rough,” a true story of Catana Starkes first Black woman to coach an all male golf team at Tennessee State. Sam Puryear the current coach at Howard University and Sean Foley, former coach of Tiger Woods, were team members under Coach Starks at Tennessee.
Attendees also gained insight into the Arlington Golf Center Full Swing Lessons using TopTracer simulator technology.
The on Course Team Competition was held at Texas 9 with an emphasis on etiquette and “Pace of Play,” and with prizes awarded.

The objective of this effort is to include more women of Color to the “Wonderful World of Golf” with a positive healthy attitude that we are Welcome and We Belong!!! We can accomplish those goals if we work together to grow the game for All people. Thanks to everyone who continues to help by providing the space, facilities and welcoming attitudes to a great cause! Special note and thanks to 13-year-old Jade Warren, LPGA USGA Girls and PGA Jr League member for assisting with classes.
Note: Due to inclement weather during the 4th session a make-up session was discussed and agreed upon for those available to attend on April 13th at Golf Club of Dallas, 10:00 to 12:00.
