Cruz becomes the only player to have competed in every Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship (NB3) championship while securing his first NB3 national title. The tournament was played November 4-6, Koasati Pines Golf Club, Kinder, LA.
15-year-old Lucky, standing at 6 feet and weighing 165 lbs, started playing golf at age five. Today, this junior is committed to the University of Houston (Big-12) with a spot in the Top 100 Class of 2024. His achievements include being a Pete Dye Invitational Selection, nominated for the Presidential Leadership Award by AJGA, and qualifying for the 2023 US Open as an alternate.
According to his family’s foundation website, Luckyswing.com, Lucky aspires to play professional golf, aiming for success in the Jr. Rankings and pursuing his 2023 goals of qualifying for the US Open, USGA AM, and Jr. AM, while securing Top 10 finishes on a Mini-Tour.
Lucky hails from Magnolia, TX, and showcased his talent internationally in Abu Dhabi, tying for 1st place in a three-day event and finishing with a scoring average of 70.4 (-1.5).
Academically, Lucky excels with a 4.0 GPA, a 1300 SAT score, and seeks to major in Architecture with a minor in Physics, all within a Dual Diploma Program.
Noteworthy highlights from the 2022/2023 season include impressive performances in the US Open Qualifier, Notah Begay Regional, Moon Light Tour, and various Faldo Championships, all establishing this junior golfer as a rising star.
