PHILADELPHIA — Matthew and Michael Vital, senior twins at Liberty High in Bethlehem, Pa, have signed to play golf at Temple University, announced the Owls’ head golf coach Brian Quinn.
“We are really excited to have both Matthew and Michael Vital join our Temple Golf program,” said Quinn. “Matthew is one of the top golfers in the state and we look forward to seeing Michael progress into one of our top players. This is a great day for Temple Golf and we welcome them into our family.”
Matthew and Michael helped Liberty win three consecutive conference and PIAA Class AAA District 11 team titles. Matthew, who recently won the inaugural Cisco Junior Series points championship, is a two-time District 11 Class 3A champion and PIAA qualifier. Michael is a two-time PIAA qualifier.
Matthew broke the Reading Country Club course record as a sophomore, shooting a 62 at the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour event in April 2021. The previous record score of 63 was set by the legendary golf great Sam Snead in the 1949 Reading Open.
