14-year-old Olivia Heggie has won the Under Armour six week tournament and supporting organization Triangle Women In Golf (TWIG Kidz) could not be happier. Olivia’s win means that she will be going to Florida to play in The Junior Tour Powered by Under Armour Winter Nationals at Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort Feb 15-20, 2023.
The Junior Tour Powered by Under Armour is a National Youth Golf League for boys and girls ages 6-18 of all skill levels where Junior Golfers will play in a fun, friendly and competitive environment while developing the skills and self-confidence to improve their golf game.
The Raleigh, NC, East Garner Middle Magnet School straight A student enjoys studying history and math. Olivia’s favorite Uncle George is an avid golfer and invites her out to play often. Olivia was introduced to the game of golf through the First Tee Youth Golf program and “instantly fell in love with the sport,” says Olivia.
As a member of the First Tee and Triangle Women In Golf (TWIG) Olivia’s average score is 46. At the Under Armour she says, “The most difficult challenge was keeping myself mentally positive throughout the whole entire tournament. I kept positive people near me and tried to think positive, no matter how bad the shot was.”
Olivia’s parents are very proud of her accomplishments and believe that their youngster is headed for even greater success in life. Her mother, LaVinya and father Julian say, “Although we do not play golf, we are proud of all of Oliva’s hard work and effort that she is putting into golf and seeing it pay off for her.”
The Under Armour Leagues operate during the SPRING Season (March-May) with a Summer National Championship in June and the FALL Season (September-December) with a Winter National Championship in February (Presidents Day Weekend).
