AUGUSTA, GA – In a thrilling moment for Paine College, both the Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams are set to compete in the prestigious National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship. Held at the stunning Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida, from October 21-23, the tournament will bring together elite collegiate talent from across the nation in a battle for supremacy.
At the helm of this exciting journey is Interim Head Coach Andre Lacey, a seasoned PGA Associate who has reshaped the program, along with Assistant Coach Rashad Wilson, also a certified PGA Professional, whose addition input has elevated the team’s potential. Lacey’s leadership, coupled with a proven track record of success—including guiding the women’s team to a national title—sets the stage for what promises to be a breakthrough performance for both teams. The combination of two PGA-trained professionals positions Paine College Golf for a dominant run in the coming years.
Women’s Team
The Paine College Women’s Golf Team enters the NCCAA Championship on fire, riding a wave of momentum after a spectacular season. With six event wins, a runner-up finish at the 2023 NCCAA Championship, and a victory at the 2024 Women in Golf National Championship, they are one of the most formidable teams in the field. Stars like Ashley Michel and Helena Rios, both of whom earned All-American honors at last year’s championship, are ready to lead their team to new heights and have their sights firmly set on capturing another title.
Men’s Team
Not to be outdone, the Paine College Men’s Golf Team has steadily built a reputation as a program on the rise. This season, they’ve dropped their team scoring average by an impressive six strokes and posted strong performances in key tournaments. With their newfound confidence and a laser focus on improvement, they’re eager to leave a lasting impression at this year’s NCCAA Championship.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our student-athletes. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, and competing in the NCCAA National Championship is a testament to their growth. Both teams are ready to show the world what Paine College Golf is all about.”
Paine College’s golf program continues to flourish under Lacey’s guidance, merging athletic achievement with academic excellence. The program offers unique opportunities, including internships with CBS Sports, partnerships with community organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta, and positions with US Sports Nike Junior Golf Camps. These experiences prepare student-athletes for success beyond the course, cultivating future leaders both on and off the green.
