Richard A. Brown III, a PGA Master Professional, is among the line-up of speakers slated for the 2023 PGA Buying & Education Summit, Frisco, TX, July 31-Aug. 2. Brown, TPI / K-VEST and FlightScope Certified will share his wealth of knowledge and expertise on “Short Game Techniques.”
Brown is PGA Director of Instruction at Quail Valley Golf Course in Missouri City, Texas, and in 2019 was the first-ever African American to achieve PGA Master Professional status with a focus in Teaching and Coaching. The designation takes years of hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence in the golf industry.
Brown is a member of the Southern Texas PGA Section and earned PGA Certified Professional status in 2017. He has been recognized as a U.S. Kids Top 50 Junior Instructor. As a well-traveled individual having been in different locations, having dealt with different types of individuals and personalities, Brown is brilliant in creating a teaching approach and learning style that fits the individual student.
Brown credits Calvin Peete, Lee Elder, Charlie Sifford, Jim Dent, Ted Rhodes, John Shippen and Bob Johnson for paving the way, allowing him the opportunity of becoming a PGA Professional and to enjoy the success of his career.
Brown operates the Richard Brown School of Golf, where he offers a full lineup of player development programs for kids and adults. The esteemed professional with over 30-years of industry experience is a Certified TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Level III in Junior Coaching/Golf Fitness instructor, FlightScope Launch Monitor Certified and K-VEST Certified.
The 2023 PGA Buying & Education Summit, July 31 – Aug. 2, will feature national-level education sessions in Golf Operations, Teaching & Coaching and Executive Management tracks for attending PGA Professionals and golf buyers. Each session will be held on July 31 at the state-of-the-art PGA Professional Development Center at PGA Frisco, the new Home of the PGA of America.
The new PGA Professional Development Center features hybrid indoor/outdoor hitting bays, simulator bays, an indoor short-game area, a putting lab, modern classrooms, and a full-size driving range. Event registration is complimentary for PGA Professionals and buyers, and education enrollment for all six sessions is only $75. A total of 8 PGA of America PDR credits can be earned through participation in each education session as well as the event. Education enrollment, event registration and housing reservations will be available first-come, first-served next week at PGABuyingSummit.com.
The education sessions are part of the mid-season PGA Buying & Education Summit, July 31-Aug. 2, which brings together PGA Professionals and golf buyers with a curated group of emerging and top golf brands to source products, learn new business strategies and network with industry peers at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort and across the expansive PGA Frisco campus.

The 2023 PGA Buying & Education Summit will begin on Monday, July 31, with curated One2One Buying Appointments at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort and the PGA Education Conference at the new PGA Professional Development Center. The exhibit floor will be open Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 1-2, at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort. Golf equipment and technology demonstrations and education will take place at the PGA Coaching Center located in the Monument Realty PGA District, adjacent to the Resort.
Each evening will offer PGA Professionals, buyers and vendors a chance to unwind and stay connected. There will be a welcome reception and fashion show at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort on Monday, and Demo Night product testing at the Monument Realty PGA District on Tuesday.
Both nights also will feature networking events and fun golf competitions within the PGA District, which features: The Dance Floor, a lighted 2-acre putting course; The Swing, a 10-hole, lighted par-3 short course; the PGA Coaching Center, offering coaching, club fitting and fitness elements to golfers from PGA Professionals; restaurants, children’s play areas, and shopping options for the public to enjoy, such as the PGA Shop, Ice House, Gimme Toys, Blue Lacy Mercantile, Vineyard Vines, Margaret’s Cones & Cups and Lounge by Topgolf.
The positive industry response to the event’s new timing and location resulted in a quick sell-out of the exhibit ballrooms at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort and the creation of a waitlist for additional interested companies. PGA Shows is now working with equipment and technology companies to build activations at Demo Night and during hands-on product education programs at the PGA Coaching Center, located adjacent to the Resort within the Monument Realty PGA District.
Organized tours of the new PGA Frisco campus are also being planned during event days. The new Home of the PGA of America debuted in August 2022, and the Omni PGA Frisco Resort and Monument Realty PGA District opened May 2, 2023.
