Thursday’s Round 1 pairings for the Hero World Challenge (PGA TOUR) were released ahead of the 72-hole tournament that is being held Thursday through Sunday, December 4–7, at Albany in the Bahamas. Hosted by Tiger Woods, the event features a 20-player field competing for a $1 million winner’s prize from a total purse of $5 million. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler enters as the two-time defending champion and is one of three past winners in the lineup, along with Hideki Matsuyama (2016) and Jordan Spieth (2014).
This year’s field also includes four players currently ranked inside the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Three competitors — J.J. Spaun, Chris Gotterup, and Andrew Novak — are making their Hero World Challenge debuts. The tournament brings together golfers from seven countries, adding to the international prestige and competitive excitement of the week.
